this bagel has a story to tell

19 hours ago the bagel pictured above
was served to a hungover (i'm making this story more interesting kathy)
52 year old woman at a coffee shop at jfk airport
in new york
for breakfast
she knows (and loves)
a friend in cape town who loves new york bagels
(actually new york but the bagel are great)
and she was not that hungry (i am sure she had a hangover)
so it was lovingly wrapped in a ziplock bag (she always carries them when travelling)
and put into her handbag (she always has space in her handbag)
and brought through customs
and hand delivered in person
this evening
in a pub in newlands
in cape town
over a bottle of perfectly chilled sauvignon blanc
the bagel was placed in another 52 year old's handbag
and later as she sat at her computer
not quite sure what story to share tonight
as the wine she had just shared
in a pub
in newlands
had made her mind race a bit more than usual
then
she thought to herself
"what about a story of a new york bagel?"
she took the bagel out of her bag
and out of the ziplock bag
and smiled to herself as she saw that the
miniature philadelphia cream cheese was also smuggled
and packed into the ziplock bag
she then took a picture or two
downloaded them to her blog
and as she sat composing the story of the bagel
and sipping on her tea
she decided that it was a good time to eat
the new york bagel which had been lovingly
delivered from new york
to cape town
in a ziplock bag
