super bowl media mania

I was listening to Jonathan Cherry of Cherry Flava on the radio this morning (shoot me please because for some strange reason I continue to torture myself with Kieno Kammies in the morning).  He was talking about the Super Bowl coming up this weekend in the USA - The New York Giants are playing the New England Patriots.   I can imagine the rivalry going on between the Kotze's (Derek and Judy in Boston (home of the Patriots)) and the Ross and Allen families living in New York (Giants fans with Patriot wives).  Jonathan Cherry was saying that companies are spending around R25 million for a 30 second commercial and that Coke was bringing back their Artic polar bear advertisements.  The polar bears will have Facebook links and Twitter feeds and they will give their own commentary on the game.

The game is being broadcast from the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.  According to the Nielson Company in 2011 there was an audience of 111 million viewers making it the most watched television program of all time.  It was viewed in 53.3 million households (not sure who owned the .3 of a household).  I do not know much about American football but I do know that Tom Brady is (was) the quarterback of the New England Patriots and that he is (was) married to Gisele Bundchen.
Hopefully both "is's" and not "was's" because they now have a cute son called Benjamin Brady

I used to love to watch those annual advertising award winning adverts  that you used to be able to watch (for free) at various cinemas every year.  I found this link for the adverts that are to be previewed on 5 February during the Super Bowl.  Click here.  These are two of my favourites if you don't want to watch the whole video clip (but do it. it is worth a look).

And even if you are not into adverts and if you only watch one advert this entire year - Make this the one!!!

Gives "Hot off the Press" a whole new meaning (even the tattoos seem perfectly acceptable).
